With that old turncoat, Senator Joe Lieberman doing everything he can to derail genuine health care reform in the Senate this week, I’m starting to think that maybe Al Gore “losing” in 200o wasn’t such a bad thing. I mean, seriously, can you imagine having someone like Lieberman in the White House? Yikes…
Not only does Lieberman regularly line his campaign coffers with big insurance cash, but his own wife, Hadassah, until recently worked at Hill & Knowlton, a major DC lobby shop. True, Mrs. Lieberman never officially registered as a lobbyist, but she did serve as Senior Counselor in their health care and pharmaceuticals practice. Yep, you heard me…health care and pharmaceuticals. Hmmm…kinda makes you wonder.
But even if all that other stuff wasn’t true, Lieberman has been showboating and holding health care reform hostage in the senate for so long that it was only a matter of time before he was parodied with sock puppets by our crafty friends at MoveOn.org. And, come on, who doesn’t love a good sock puppet parody?
So, check out the video, call Congress and the White House to make yourself heard, and spread the word far and wide…Joe Lieberman socks!!
Why are they calling it Health Care Reform? I like my doctors and I receive excellent care. I don’t like the insurance companies who make me choose between feeding my kids or going to the doctor.
Not to be radical, but denying our people affordable health care seems like a human rights violation. Health care should not be a privilege.
Health Insurance companies are as useful as Vanna White.
Okay, I’m done now.
Amen, sister! Our current system is a total joke…we needed this thing fixed yesterday!!
And I hate the big insurance companies as much as you do, but, in the future, please leave my sweet Vanna out of it. That beauty has been “turning my letters” since childhood… 🙂
Oooo, sorry to offend! I too am a fan. Who can forget her skill at turning the letters, not to mention her joy when contestants purchased those groovy gifts with their winnings?
I have nothing against Vanna. In fact, I think the “How Dare You” police would arrest me if I did. But due to technology, she really isn’t useful anymore, save being a well-deserved icon.
A tip of the hat to the senator from Connecticut for killing the first chance we’ve ever had for meaningful health care reform….
Honestly, has there ever been as vengeful a little gnat as Joe Lieberman? You’d really have to search the archives of history pretty thoroughly to find someone comparable. There are many reasons why Al Gore was defeated in 2000 by a half-witted frat boy like George W. Bush. One of the main reasons was the abysmal choice of running mate Lieberman.
It was obvious during the debate with Dick Cheney during that campaign that comical Joe was a useless drag on the ticket. When Cheney said that his success in the private sector had nothing to do with the government, Lieberman let the statement stand. Cheney made his fortune at Haliburton because of Government contracts! Government had everything to do with it! Did he purposefully sabotage the Gore campaign? Maybe it’s pure paranoia on my part but a case could be made that he did.
Say it ain’t so, Revoltin’ Joe.

All I have to say about this health care bill is
this, its not right to force people into getting
something they might not want! Look I already pay a
3rd of my income to dam taxes and fees, now they
want to force health insurance on me too. I don’t
want to have to pay some big fat insurance company
the rest of my income! You have to have car
insurance and now health insurance too! What if I
can’t afford it? What if I have a better use for my
money then to put it in the hands of people like
AIG! Haven’t the rich robbed the poor enough? Look
insurance is just a bet between you and the
insurance company, your betting that you’ll need the
money on the policy, and they are betting that you
don’t, but they win no matter what! So you pay the
insurance company for the rest of your life hoping
something bad happens so you can use it and its sad!
Some says what if, but I say it should be my right
to choose if I want it or not! The US is becoming
more communist more everyday, force people to buy
into a bet is just wrong! Is that why the soldiers
died to defend their right to force us to do what
they want? I hope not, so please someone stop these
sorry a-holes and make this country great again!
Wow, thanks for the totally opposite comments, guys. With the Lieberman threat pretty much neutralized at this point, and things moving at a great clip right now in the senate…all I gotta say to you, Saddays, is bring on the commie health care! Yee-haw! 🙂
Adding to Mr. Degan’s comments, Al Gore was plain wrong in his reasoning to pick Lieberman as his running mate.
It all came down to the fact that Al Gore was trying to distance himself from the Clinton administration (especially the whole Monica-gate thing), so to make that position even clearer, he selected the Democrat who was the loudest to complain about Clinton.
In retrospect, Gore should have embraced his connection to Clinton instead of trying to do the opposite. If he had done that, I think Gore would have been President that year (although if he had, chances are we’d have a Republican as president now, instead of Obama). So really, who knows what would have been best?
