A town called Weed…

Last summer, while driving north to visit Christine’s family in Grants Pass, we had the rare pleasure of actually getting off the freeway in the town of Weed, California. Yes, amigos, there is actually a town called Weed and yes, we always laugh and make stupid pot jokes as we pass through.

I know…we’re lame, but as you can see, some of the signage is pretty freaking hilarious. So, in honor of today being April 20th, here are some of our favorite inadvertently-funny highway signs from scenic Weed, California. Enjoy, and, as always, happy 420!

Oh yeah, and in case you were wondering, the town of Weed is named after its founder, pioneer Abner Weed and not the leafy green herb. Sorry to disappoint…

  1. Don’t just pass through taking pictures of our signage, come on in and get to know us! Have a cuppa at Ellies on WEED BLVD. Enjoy a little WEED ale at our brewery on College Ave.. Drive under the WEED Arch and check out the little galleries on Main St. Buy a WEED souvenir at one of our little gift shops. Consider college at College of the Siskiyous in WEED. For more about us go to http://www.weedchamber.com

  2. Thanks for the invite, Mt. Shasta County! We will totally hit up Ellie’s, the brewery and that awesome Weed arch next time we head up north!

    Long live Weed!

  3. I always thought “Grass Valley” sounded funny!

  4. Hilarious. Mike says when he was in the Stanford Band, they would pass by Weed all the time. One of their album covers has a picture of a road sign that says “College” with an arrow pointing one way, and “Weed” with an arrow pointing the other way. šŸ˜‰

  5. Ha! Hilarious! Love to see that album cover sometime…

  6. Politicians are 10 years behind the times when it comes to hemp use. People have been fighting for a long time against marijuana and pot prohibition with some movement going on now. Still too slow for those caught up in the jail system for possessing a little weed. Our freedoms have been trampled on by folks who know nothing about how beautiful cannabis can be for someones life, if one learns how to grow cannabis. Keep up the good work.
