It’s gonna be a girl!

Christine and I went in for our 21 week ultrasound today and were delighted to learn that we are expecting a little girl. Yay! As you can imagine, we are both pretty stoked, especially since we share a fondness for all things Barbie and Hello Kitty…and who better to pass that giddy fondness on to than a little tiny version of us, right?

Of course, we would have been just as happy with a boy, but as I have gathered from the enthusiasm from our families, a little girl offers them much cooler stuff to shop for. And speaking of, we made our first parental purchase today in the form of the super cute Baby Gap onesie shown below.

Yep, we went right from the doctor’s office to the mall. Crazy, huh? But, wow, how fun to buy little tiny clothes for your own baby! And to do it all at the store — not literally the same store, but the same chain, Gap Kids — where Christine and I met back in 1990, well, talk about coming full circle. Whoa…

So, while I must admit I was a tad disappointed at not being able to score the more boyish “Star Wars” and “Superman” onesies for our little one, I think once I get my hands on a girly Princess Leia or Queen Amidala onesie, all will be right with the world!

Woo! Hoo!!! I am soooooo excited! I will also be making a trip to the mall very soon (alas, there are way cuter baby girl things than baby boy things usually). Congrats again. See you next month!

Yipee!!!! Another girl in the family!! Aunt Debbie and I have so much to teach your little one. There is little else cuter than a little girl in denim…Forever in Blue Jeans.
    Congratulations.

  3. Awwww.

Also, I always give this on a onesie:

I wonder why I’m never asked to babysit?

Yay – a little girl! How wonderfully exciting!! Can’t wait to meet her. Congratulations once again! 🙂

Once again, I could not sleep……visions of the sugar plum fairy floating in my head. Oh yeah, this is going to be one spoiled little cutie. March 8th, let the spoiling begin 🙂
PS: First thing Courtney said when she heard is “alright, let’s hit the mall.”
    I love you guys!!!!!

I say go with the batman onsie, but that’s just me..

A double whoo-hoo to you and Christine. I may get some flak for this but: girl babies are hands down better than boy babies.

Congrats. That’s awesome. And just remember what my dad told my mom when she was pregnant with me, “It doesn’t matter whether we have a boy or a girl, I’m gonna raise it like a boy”. If you don’t believe me, ask my sister, Ralph.

  8. Ha! That’s hilarious. And as I remember, your sister Ralph loved her “Star Wars” onesie too…so, I got some shopping to do! 🙂

A GIRL!!! How fantastic. My congratulations to both of you!
And: girl babies may be better than boy babies, BUT I think I’d rather have boy pre-teens.
    (Yikes! Junior High!)

Based on all the comments, sounds like you guys may be doing your part for stimulating the economy, what with all the mall shopping that seems to be taking place.

    Confreakingratulations! Girl power!

Now, back to my regularly scheduled pre-election panic. Go Obama!!

  11. I can’t wait to see that cute onesie on little Chrismas (the name you get when you combine Christine + Tomas). 🙂

  12. Melissa

    Let it go, James.

I didn’t know the Little Miss and Mr. Men were a big thing here, but Little Miss Chatterbox seems pretty appropriate!

You guys must be having so much fun! I can’t wait to meet the newest Romero.
